Presidential Challenge Coin Series
Challenge coins have military origins dating back to the Civil War when soldiers carried hometown coins as reminders of their experiences. The tradition continued through World Wars I and II, as well as the Vietnam War, symbolizing camaraderie and unit pride. Over time, these became ‘challenge coins,’ used in friendly tests of allegiance among service members. Today, they remain a meaningful tradition in the military, law enforcement, and firefighting communities.
