Schreiner University employs close to 400 students through a combination of federal and institutional work-study positions, hourly jobs, internships and other positions compensated through scholarships, grants and/or tuition reduction. Most of these positions are paid hourly, but some provide compensation through grants, scholarships and/or financial aid. Working at Schreiner is ideal for students due to convenient location, flexible scheduling, social networking, and developing relevant, transferable skills. The experience they gain and skills they develop help prepare them “for meaningful and purposeful lives in a changing global society”.
TYPES OF STUDENT EMPLOYMENT
Work-Study Positions
- Federal Work-Study (FWS) and Institutional Work-Study (IWS)
- Open to degree-seeking Schreiner University students.
- Level I positions start at $10.00/hr., Level II positions pay $11.00/hr., and Level III positions pay $12.00/hr.
- Students are allowed to work up to 20 hours a week (regardless of the number of positions held on campus).
- Students are encouraged to hold one (1) work-study job on campus.
- Students are paid up to $2,500 for the academic year (fall and spring combined).
- Supervisors must seek approval from the Vice President for Planning and Finance/CFO for awards over $2,500.
- Fulfills MEANINGFUL WORK Certificate requirement*
- Community Service Work-Study (CWS)
- Open to Schreiner students who have received and accepted Federal Work-Study in their Financial Aid Package.
- Level I positions start at $10.00/hr., Level II positions pay $11.00/hr., and Level III positions pay $12.00/hr.
- Students are allowed to work up to 20 hours a week.
- Students work with a local nonprofit or public agency off campus.
- Students must provide their own transportation to and from the job site at their own expense.
- Limited positions available.

Other Types of Positions
- All Schreiner students are eligible for hourly student employment positions that are not part of the work-study program. These positions include Schreiner Ambassadors, Mountaineer Mentors, Research Assistants, Resident Assistants, Lifeguards and others.
- Compensation may be in the form of scholarships, grants, financial aid, and in-kind benefits.

Community Internship Program (CIP)
- Open to all Schreiner students with at least 30 credit hours. Must apply in Handshake for CIP. Applications open in the spring semester each year.
- Summer program is 10 weeks; 150 hours required. $1,200 tuition grant and summer housing provided.
- Academic program is 12 weeks/semester; 120 hours/semester required. $1,000 tuition grant/semester. No housing provided.
