Job Summary:
Under general supervision, the Finance Intern will work independently to assist the Finance staff with tasks primarily related to daily accounting duties and special projects. This position is designed to provide assistance to the department while learning about government finance.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

- Assist Finance staff with special projects related to Finance department responsibilities.
- Assist Accounts Payable clerk with AP duties.
- Prepare daily journal entries.
- Prepare requisitions for payment.
- Assist Accounts Receivable clerk with AR duties.
- Assist with duties related to preparation of the budget book.
- Provide excellent customer service, when applicable.
- Purge documents and organize files as needed.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of basic accounting practices.
- High level computer skills, specifically Microsoft Outlook, Excel & Word.
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Ability to complete tasks accurately and timely.
- Ability to learn site specific software.
- Good interpersonal skills, positive attitude, and professional appearance.
- Ability to multi-task and provide exceptional customer service in a fast-paced office.
- Ability to use and apply systematic methods for accuracy.
- Ability to work with fellow employees in a courteous, positive, and team environment.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.

- Computer and related software, printers, telephone, copier, scanner
Education, Certification and Experience Required:
- Current student classified as a college sophomore, junior, senior, or in a related Master’s program at an accredited university.
- Possession of a valid Texas Class C driver’s license.
Physical and Environmental Conditions:
Duties are generally performed in an office setting. Some light work requiring occasional lifting objects up to 20 pounds to move objects. Must be able to sit for long periods of time. Work may also require stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending, standing, walking, pushing, and pulling.
